Chapter 101
1 I will sing R3129 of lovingkindness and justice, F1068 To You, O LORD, I will sing praises. 2 I will give R3130 F1069 heed to the blameless F1070 way. When will You come to me? I will walk within my house in the integrity R3131 F1071 of my heart. 3 I will set no worthless R3132 thing before my eyes; I hate the work F1072 of those who fall R3133 away; It shall not fasten its grip on me. 4 A perverse R3134 heart shall depart from me; I will know no evil. 5 Whoever secretly slanders R3135 his neighbor, him I will destroy; F1073 No one who has a haughty R3136 look and an arrogant heart will I endure. 6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He who walks in a blameless R3137 F1074 way is the one who will minister to me. 7 He who practices R3138 deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who speaks falsehood shall R3139 not maintain F1075 his position before me. 8 Every R3140 morning I will destroy R3141 F1076 all the wicked of the land, So as to cut R3142 off from the city R3143 of the LORD all those who do iniquity.
Chapter 102
1 Hear R3144 my prayer, O LORD! And let my cry for help come R3145 to You. 2 Do R3146 not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress; Incline R3147 Your ear to me; In the day when I call answer R3146 me quickly. 3 For my days have R3148 been consumed F1077 in smoke, And my bones R3149 have been scorched like a hearth. 4 My heart has R3150 been smitten like grass F1078 and has withered R3151 away, Indeed, I forget R3152 to eat my bread. 5 Because of the loudness F1079 of my groaning My bones R3153 cling F1080 to my flesh. 6 I resemble F1081 a pelican R3154 of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the waste places. 7 I lie R3155 awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop. 8 My enemies have R3156 reproached me all day long; Those who deride R3157 F1082 me have F1083 used my name as a curse. R3158 9 For I have eaten ashes like bread And mingled R3159 my drink with weeping 10 Because R3160 of Your indignation and Your wrath, For You have lifted R3161 me up and cast me away. 11 My days are like a lengthened R3162 F1084 shadow, And I F1085 wither R3163 away like grass. F1086
12 But You, O LORD, abide R3164 F1087 forever, And Your name R3165 F1088 to all generations. 13 You will arise R3166 and have compassion R3167 on Zion; For it R3168 is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed R3169 time has come. 14 Surely Your servants find F1089 pleasure in her stones And feel pity for her dust. 15 So F1090 the nations R3170 F1091 will fear the name of the LORD And all R3171 the kings of the earth Your glory. 16 For the LORD has built R3172 up Zion; He has appeared R3173 in His glory. 17 He has regarded R3174 the prayer of the destitute F1092 And has not despised their prayer. 18 This F1093 will be written R3175 for the generation R3176 to come, That F1094 a R3177 people yet to be created may F1095 praise the F1096 LORD. 19 For He looked R3178 down from His holy height; From R3179 heaven the LORD gazed upon F1097 the earth, 20 To hear the groaning R3180 of the prisoner, To set R3181 free those F1098 who were doomed to death, 21 That men may tell R3182 of the name of the LORD in Zion And His praise in Jerusalem, 22 When the R3183 peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
23 He has weakened my strength in the way; He has shortened R3184 my days. 24 I say, "O my God, do R3185 not take me away in the midst F1099 of my days, Your years R3186 are throughout all generations. 25 "Of old You founded R3187 the earth, And the heavens R3188 are the work of Your hands. 26 "Even F1100 they will perish, R3189 but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. 27 "But You are the R3190 F1101 same, And Your years will not come to an end. 28 "The children R3191 of Your servants will continue, And their descendants R3192 F1102 will be established before You."
Chapter 103
1 Bless R3193 the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy R3194 name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget R3195 none of His benefits; 3 Who pardons R3196 all your iniquities, Who heals R3197 all your diseases; 4 Who redeems R3198 your life from the pit, Who crowns R3199 you with lovingkindness and compassion; 5 Who satisfies R3200 your years F1103 with good things, So that your youth is renewed R3201 like the eagle.
6 The LORD performs R3202 righteous F1104 deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed. R3203 7 He made R3204 known His ways to Moses, His acts R3205 to the sons of Israel. 8 The LORD is compassionate R3206 and gracious, Slow R3207 to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. 9 He will R3208 not always strive with us, Nor will He keep R3209 His anger forever. 10 He has not R3210 dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as R3211 the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear F1105 Him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed R3212 our transgressions from us. 13 Just as R3213 a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear F1106 Him. 14 For He R3214 Himself knows our F1107 frame; He is R3215 mindful that we are but dust. R3216 15 As for man, his days are like R3217 grass; As a flower R3218 of the field, so he flourishes. 16 When the wind R3219 has passed over it, it is no more, And its place R3220 acknowledges it no longer. 17 But the lovingkindness R3221 of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear F1108 Him, And His righteousness F1109 to R3222 children's children, 18 To those R3223 who keep His covenant And remember His precepts to do them.
19 The LORD has established His throne R3224 in the heavens, And His sovereignty R3225 F1110 rules over all. F1111 20 Bless the LORD, you His R3226 angels, Mighty R3227 in strength, who perform R3228 His word, Obeying R3229 the voice of His word! 21 Bless the LORD, all you His R3230 hosts, You who R3231 serve Him, doing His will. 22 Bless the LORD, all R3232 you works of His, In all places of His dominion; Bless the LORD, O my soul!
Chapter 104
1 Bless R3233 the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed R3234 with splendor and majesty, 2 Covering Yourself with light R3235 as with a cloak, Stretching R3236 out heaven like a tent curtain. 3 He F1112 lays R3237 the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He F1112 makes the clouds R3238 His chariot; He F1112 walks upon the wings R3239 of the wind; 4 He F1113 makes the R3240 F1114 winds His messengers, Flaming F1115 fire R3241 His ministers. 5 He established R3242 the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter F1116 forever and ever. 6 You covered R3243 it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. 7 At Your rebuke R3244 they fled, At the sound R3245 of Your thunder they hurried away. 8 The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place R3246 which You established for them. 9 You set a boundary R3247 that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth.
10 He F1117 sends forth springs R3248 in the valleys; They flow between the mountains; 11 They give R3249 drink to every beast of the field; The wild R3250 donkeys quench their thirst. 12 Beside F1118 them the birds of the heavens dwell; R3251 They lift F1119 up their voices among the branches. 13 He F1120 waters R3252 the mountains from His upper chambers; The R3253 earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works. 14 He F1121 causes the grass R3254 to grow for the cattle, F1122 And vegetation R3255 for the labor F1123 of man, So that he F1124 may bring forth food F1125 from R3256 the earth, 15 And wine R3257 which makes man's heart glad, So R3258 that he may make his face glisten with oil, And food F1126 which sustains R3259 man's heart. 16 The trees of the LORD drink F1127 their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted, 17 Where the birds R3260 build their nests, And the stork, R3261 whose home is the fir F1128 trees. 18 The high mountains are for the wild R3262 goats; The cliffs R3263 are a refuge for the shephanim. R3264 F1129
19 He made the moon for R3265 the seasons; The sun R3266 knows the place of its setting. 20 You appoint R3267 darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts R3268 of the forest prowl F1130 about. 21 The young R3269 lions roar after their prey And F1131 seek R3270 their food from God. 22 When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens. R3271 23 Man goes forth to his R3272 work And to his labor until evening. 24 O LORD, how many R3273 are Your works! In F1132 wisdom R3274 You have made them all; The earth R3275 is full of Your possessions. F1133 25 There F1134 is the sea, R3276 great and broad, F1135 In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great. 26 There the ships R3277 move along, And Leviathan, R3278 F1136 which You have formed to sport in it. 27 They all wait R3279 for You To give R3280 them their food in due F1137 season. 28 You give to them, they gather it up; You open R3281 Your hand, they are satisfied with good. 29 You hide R3282 Your face, they are dismayed; You take R3283 away their spirit, F1138 they expire And return R3284 to their dust. 30 You send forth Your Spirit, R3285 F1139 they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.
31 Let the glory R3286 of the LORD endure forever; Let the LORD be R3287 glad in His works; 32 He F1140 looks R3288 at the earth, and it trembles; R3289 He touches R3290 the mountains, and they smoke. 33 I F1141 will sing to the LORD as R3291 F1142 long as I live; I F1141 will sing R3292 praise to my God while F1143 I have my being. 34 Let my meditation R3293 be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be R3294 glad in the LORD. 35 Let sinners be consumed R3295 from the earth And let the wicked R3296 be no more. Bless R3297 the LORD, O my soul. Praise R3298 F1144 the F1145 LORD!
Chapter 105
1 Oh give R3299 thanks to the LORD, call R3300 upon His name; Make R3301 known His deeds among the peoples. 2 Sing to Him, sing R3302 praises to Him; Speak R3303 F1146 of all His wonders. F1147 3 Glory F1148 in His holy name; Let the heart R3304 of those who seek the LORD be glad. 4 Seek the LORD and His R3305 strength; Seek R3306 His face continually. 5 Remember His wonders R3307 F1149 which He has done, His marvels and the judgments R3308 uttered F1150 by His mouth, 6 O seed of Abraham, R3309 His servant, O sons of Jacob, R3310 His chosen R3311 ones! 7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments R3312 are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered R3313 His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand R3314 generations, 9 The covenant R3315 which He made with Abraham, And His oath R3316 to Isaac. 10 Then He confirmed R3317 it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11 Saying, "To R3318 you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion R3319 F1151 of your inheritance," 12 When they were only a few R3320 men in number, Very few, and strangers R3321 in it. 13 And they wandered about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. 14 He permitted R3322 no man to oppress them, And He reproved R3323 kings for their sakes: 15 "Do R3324 not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm." 16 And He called R3325 for a famine upon the land; He broke R3326 the whole staff of bread. 17 He sent R3327 a man before them, Joseph, who was sold R3328 as a slave. 18 They afflicted his feet R3329 with fetters, He F1152 himself was laid in irons; 19 Until the time that his word R3330 came to pass, The word of the LORD tested R3331 F1153 him. 20 The king R3332 sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free. 21 He made R3333 him lord of his house And ruler over all his possessions, 22 To imprison F1154 his princes at R3334 F1155 will, That he might teach his elders wisdom. 23 Israel R3335 also came into Egypt; Thus Jacob sojourned R3336 in the land of Ham. 24 And He caused R3337 His people to be very fruitful, And made them stronger than their adversaries.
25 He turned R3338 their heart to hate His people, To deal R3339 craftily with His servants. 26 He sent R3340 Moses His servant, And Aaron, R3341 whom He had chosen. 27 They performed R3342 F1156 His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham. 28 He sent R3343 darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel R3344 against His words. 29 He turned R3345 their waters into blood And caused their fish to die. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs R3346 Even in the chambers R3347 of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came a swarm R3348 of flies And gnats R3349 in all their territory. 32 He gave F1157 them hail R3350 for rain, And flaming fire in their land. 33 He struck R3351 down their vines also and their fig trees, And shattered the trees of their territory. 34 He spoke, and locusts R3352 came, And young locusts, even without number, 35 And ate up all vegetation in their land, And ate up the fruit of their ground. 36 He also struck R3353 down all the firstborn in their land, The first R3354 fruits of all their vigor. 37 Then He brought them out with silver R3355 and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled. 38 Egypt was glad R3356 when they departed, For the dread R3357 of them had fallen upon them. 39 He spread a cloud R3358 for a covering, F1158 And fire R3359 to illumine by night. 40 They F1159 asked, R3360 and He brought quail, R3361 And satisfied them with the bread R3362 F1160 of heaven. 41 He opened the rock F1161 and water R3363 flowed out; It F1162 ran in the dry places like a river. 42 For He remembered R3364 His holy word With Abraham His servant; 43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout. R3365 44 He gave R3366 them also the lands of the nations, F1163 That they might R3367 take possession of the fruit of the peoples' labor, 45 So that they might keep R3368 His statutes And observe His laws, Praise F1164 the F1165 LORD!

Highlights:
Let your spirit soar as you join King David in humility and glory, singing and worshiping God the Righteous King. The reading closes with a historical retrospect and celebration of the Exodus from Egypt.
David was inspired by the Holy Spirit to prophesy of Jesus' glorious coming kingdom reign when He will administer equal justice for all the world. Because of this, David declared: I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes (Ps. 101:2-3). To maintain this attitude, David chose his friends wisely, saying: A froward (deceitful, perverted) heart shall depart from me: I will not know (have anything to do with) a wicked person (101:4). The influence of a wicked person, like a rotten apple in a barrel of apples, will infect all those who associate with him.
A few of the many reasons for praising the Lord are given in Psalm 103, but it is our loving Lord Himself who is our highest reason for praise. First, we praise Him for who He is, the all-powerful, all-wise, righteous Creator, and then for His mercy and forgiving love in cleansing us from all our sins. We also thank and praise Him because He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him (103:10-11).
Just think, His forgiving love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. Therefore, it is an act of unbelief on our part, a deception of Satan, and contrary to the nature of our loving Lord, for us to bring up former sins — either ours or those of others. Forgiven means no longer remembered, not only by God, but by us as well (I John 1:9; II Pet. 1:9). Forgiveness must not depend on our emotions, rather it is a decision that the Lord requires of us. As you begin praying, always remember to forgive anyone you feel has wronged you. When you do that, your Father will forgive your evil deeds; but, if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you nor answer your prayers (Ps. 66:18).
We are reminded that unlimited forgiveness should characterize every true disciple of Christ, for He said: When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father . . . forgive your trespasses (Mark 11:25-26).
Thought for Today:
He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint (Luke 18:1).
Christ Revealed:
As the One who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Ps. 103:3). Forgiveness of sin and the healing power of God describe the ministry of our Lord Jesus, who was sent to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19; Matt. 9:6).
Word Studies:
101:2 perfect heart = blameless; one of integrity; 101:4 froward heart = an obstinate and evil mind; 101:5 cut off = destroy; suffer = tolerate; 101:7 tarry = continue to dwell; 102:26 wax old = deteriorate; 104:9 bound = boundary; 104:13 chambers = dwelling place, heavens.
