Chapter 92

1 It is good R2926 to give thanks to the LORD And to sing R2927 praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare R2928 Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness R2929 by F1001 night, 3 With F1002 the ten-stringed R2930 lute and with F1002 the harp, R2930 With F1002 resounding music upon F1003 the lyre. R2930 4 For You, O LORD, have made me glad by what F1004 You have R2931 done, I will sing R2932 for joy at the works R2933 of Your hands. 5 How great R2934 are Your works, O LORD! Your thoughts R2935 F1005 are very deep. R2936 6 A senseless R2937 man has no knowledge, Nor does a stupid R2937 man understand this:

7 That when the wicked sprouted R2938 up like grass And all who R2939 did iniquity flourished, It was only that they might be destroyed R2940 forevermore. 8 But You, O LORD, are on R2941 high forever. 9 For, behold, Your enemies, O LORD, For, behold, Your R2942 enemies will perish; All who do iniquity will be scattered. R2943 10 But You have exalted my horn R2944 like that of the wild ox; I have been F1006 anointed R2945 with fresh oil. 11 And my eye has looked R2946 exultantly upon my F1007 foes, My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me. 12 The righteous R2947 man will flourish F1008 like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar R2948 in Lebanon. 13 Planted R2949 in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in R2950 the courts of our God. 14 They will still yield R2951 F1009 fruit in old age; They shall be full F1010 of sap and very green, 15 To declare F1011 that the R2952 LORD is upright; He is my rock, R2953 and there is no R2954 unrighteousness in Him.

Chapter 93

1 The R2955 LORD reigns, F1012 He is clothed R2956 with majesty; The LORD has clothed R2957 and girded Himself with strength; Indeed, the world R2958 is firmly established, it will not be moved. 2 Your throne R2959 is established from of old; You are R2960 from everlasting. 3 The floods R2961 have lifted up, O LORD, The floods have lifted up their voice, The floods lift up their pounding waves. 4 More than the sounds of many waters, Than the mighty breakers of the sea, The LORD on R2962 high is mighty. 5 Your testimonies R2963 are fully confirmed; Holiness R2964 befits Your house, O LORD, forevermore. F1013

Chapter 94

1 O LORD, God of vengeance, R2965 F1014 God of vengeance, F1014 shine R2966 F1015 forth! 2 Rise R2967 up, O Judge R2968 of the earth, Render recompense to R2969 the proud. 3 How long shall the wicked, O LORD, How long shall the wicked R2970 exult? 4 They pour forth words, they speak R2971 arrogantly; All who do wickedness vaunt R2972 themselves. 5 They crush R2973 Your people, O LORD, And afflict R2974 Your heritage. 6 They slay R2975 the widow and the stranger F1016 And murder the orphans. 7 They R2976 have said, "The F1017 LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed." 8 Pay heed, you senseless R2977 among the people; And when will you understand, stupid R2977 ones? 9 He who planted R2978 the ear, does F1018 He not hear? He who formed the eye, does F1018 He not see? 10 He who chastens R2979 F1019 the nations, will He not rebuke, Even He who teaches R2980 man knowledge? 11 The LORD knows R2981 the thoughts of man, That F1020 they are a mere breath.

12 Blessed is the man whom You R2982 chasten, O LORD, And whom R2983 You teach out of Your law; 13 That You may grant him relief R2984 from the days R2985 of adversity, Until a R2986 pit is dug for the wicked. 14 For the R2987 LORD will not abandon His people, Nor will He forsake R2988 His inheritance. 15 For judgment R2989 F1022 will F1023 again be righteous, And all the upright in heart will F1024 follow it. 16 Who will stand R2990 up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against R2991 those who do wickedness? 17 If the R2992 LORD had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence. 18 If I should say, "My R2993 foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up. 19 When my anxious thoughts multiply F1025 within me, Your consolations R2994 delight my soul. 20 Can a throne R2995 F1026 of destruction be allied with You, One which R2996 devises mischief F1027 by decree? 21 They band R2997 themselves together against the life F1028 of the righteous And condemn R2998 the F1029 innocent to death. 22 But the LORD has been my stronghold, R2999 And my God the rock R3000 of my refuge. 23 He has brought R3001 back their wickedness upon them And will destroy R3002 F1030 them in their evil; The LORD our God will destroy F1030 them.

Chapter 95

1 O come, let us sing R3003 for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the R3004 rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come R3005 before His presence with R3006 thanksgiving, F1031 Let us shout joyfully to Him with R3007 psalms. F1032 3 For the LORD is a great R3008 God And a great King above R3009 all gods, 4 In whose hand are the depths R3010 of the earth, The peaks of the mountains are His also. 5 The F1033 sea is His, for it was He who R3011 made it, And His hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us worship R3012 and bow down, Let us kneel R3013 before the LORD our Maker. R3014

7 For He is our God, And we R3015 are the people of His pasture R3016 F1034 and the sheep of His hand. Today, R3017 if F1035 you would hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, R3018 F1036 As in the day of Massah R3019 F1037 in the wilderness, 9 "When your fathers tested R3020 Me, They tried Me, though they had seen My work. 10 "For forty R3021 years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways. 11 "Therefore I swore R3022 in My anger, Truly they shall not enter into My rest." R3023

Chapter 96

1 Sing R3024 to the LORD a new R3025 song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim R3026 good tidings of His salvation from day to day. 3 Tell of His R3027 glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. 4 For great R3028 is the LORD and greatly R3029 to be praised; He is to be feared R3030 above R3031 all gods. 5 For all R3032 the gods of the peoples are idols, F1038 But the R3033 LORD made the heavens. 6 Splendor R3034 and majesty are before Him, Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. 7 Ascribe F1039 to the LORD, O families R3035 of the peoples, Ascribe R3036 F1039 to the LORD glory and strength. 8 Ascribe F1040 to the LORD the glory R3037 of His name; Bring an offering R3038 F1041 and come into His courts. 9 Worship R3039 the LORD in holy F1042 attire; Tremble R3040 before Him, all the earth.

10 Say among the nations, "The R3041 LORD reigns; Indeed, the world R3041 is firmly established, it will not be moved; He will judge R3042 the peoples with equity." F1043 11 Let the heavens R3043 be glad, and let the earth R3044 rejoice; Let the R3045 sea roar, F1044 and all F1045 it contains; 12 Let the field R3046 exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees R3047 of the forest will sing for joy 13 Before the LORD, for R3048 He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth. He R3049 will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples in His faithfulness.

Chapter 97

1 The R3050 LORD reigns, F1046 let the earth R3051 rejoice; Let the many islands R3052 F1047 be glad. 2 Clouds R3053 and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness R3054 and justice are the foundation of His throne. 3 Fire R3055 goes before Him And burns R3056 up His adversaries round about. 4 His lightnings R3057 lit up the world; The earth saw and trembled. R3058 5 The mountains melted R3059 like wax at the presence of the LORD, At the presence of the Lord R3060 of the whole earth. 6 The heavens R3061 declare His righteousness, And all R3062 the peoples have seen His glory. 7 Let all those be ashamed who serve graven R3063 images, Who boast themselves of idols; R3064 Worship R3065 F1048 Him, all you gods. F1049

8 Zion heard F1050 this and was R3066 glad, And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced Because of Your judgments, O LORD. 9 For You are the LORD Most R3067 High over all the earth; You are exalted far above R3068 all gods. F1051 10 Hate R3069 evil, you who love the LORD, Who preserves R3070 the souls of His godly ones; He delivers R3071 them from the hand of the wicked. 11 Light R3072 is sown like seed for the righteous And gladness R3073 for the upright in heart. 12 Be glad R3074 in the LORD, you righteous ones, And give R3075 thanks to F1052 His holy name.

Chapter 98

1 O sing to the LORD a new R3076 song, For He has done wonderful R3077 things, His right R3078 hand and His holy R3079 arm have gained F1053 the victory for Him. 2 The R3080 LORD has made known His salvation; He has revealed R3081 His righteousness F1054 in the sight of the nations. 3 He has remembered R3082 His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All R3083 the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4 Shout R3084 joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break R3085 forth and sing for joy and sing praises. 5 Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, R3086 With the lyre and the sound R3087 F1055 of melody. 6 With trumpets R3088 and the sound of the horn Shout R3089 joyfully before the R3090 King, the LORD. 7 Let the sea R3091 roar and all F1056 it contains, The world R3092 and those who dwell in it. 8 Let the rivers R3093 clap their hands, Let the mountains R3094 sing together for joy 9 Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge R3095 the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness And the R3096 peoples with equity. F1057

Chapter 99

1 The R3097 LORD reigns, let the peoples tremble; He is R3098 F1058 enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake! 2 The LORD is F1059 great R3099 in Zion, And He is exalted R3100 above all the peoples. 3 Let them praise Your great R3101 and awesome name; Holy R3102 is He. F1060 4 The strength F1061 of the King loves R3103 justice; F1062 You have established equity; R3104 F1063 You have executed R3105 justice F1062 and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt R3106 F1064 the LORD our God And worship R3107 at His footstool; Holy R3108 is He.

6 Moses R3109 and Aaron were among His priests, R3110 And Samuel R3109 was among those who called R3111 on His name; They called R3112 upon the LORD and He answered them. 7 He spoke R3113 to them in the pillar of cloud; They kept R3114 His testimonies And the statute that He gave them. 8 O LORD our God, You answered R3115 them; You were a forgiving R3116 God to them, And yet an avenger R3117 of their evil deeds. 9 Exalt the LORD our God And worship at His holy hill, For holy is the LORD our God.

Chapter 100

1 Shout R3118 joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Serve R3119 the LORD with gladness; Come R3120 before Him with joyful singing. 3 Know that the R3121 LORD Himself F1065 is God; It is He who has made R3122 us, and not F1066 we ourselves; We are His R3123 people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with R3124 thanksgiving F1067 And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless R3125 His name. 5 For the R3126 LORD is good; His R3127 lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness R3128 to all generations.

Highlights:

The Holy Spirit leads the writer to walk and talk with God, and then tells everyone why and how to worship Him. God has made us and our God reigns. Give glory to His Name, everyone sing praise to the Lord. Praise Him for His holiness, His love, His faithfulness, and most of all for His long-suffering. Praise Him for our salvation. What a mighty and marvelous God we serve!

By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the psalmist invites the faithful to come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation. . . . O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand (Ps. 95:1,6-7). Praying with a heartfelt attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving (95:2) is a vital part of worship. Singing joyfully carries with it the thought of expressing devotion to our Lord.

Praise to the Lord will lift worship beyond the level of personal needs to the higher plane of love and adoration as we honor the Heavenly Father, our precious Savior Jesus Christ, and the indwelling Holy Spirit. A "self-centered" person assumes the "worship" service was meant for his personal satisfaction. Consequently, we hear such people say: "I didn't get much out of the service." The reason is clear — they didn't put much into it.

Worship is not a “time” set aside for receiving personal satisfaction or for the enjoyment of a “sermon.” Worship should be an active, heartfelt expression of prayer, praise, and adoration, demonstrating our esteem for our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. Following this, all else, including the sermon, becomes more meaningful.

Some lack spiritual fulfillment because they have decided to reflect the mood and attitude of unbelievers when confronted with adverse circumstances, such as the loss of a job, the death of a loved one, a divorce, the betrayal of a friend, or some other painful experience. By deciding to be unhappy and dissatisfied, they deprive themselves of the joy of an abundant, peaceful life. The Lord has said: The joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh. 8:10).

When we think of all our Lord has done for us, in us, and with us, and all He has promised to us for all eternity, we cannot help but decide to praise, worship, and serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing (Ps. 100:2). Our gladness will be in direct proportion to our faith in His unfailing presence and promises. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations (Ps. 100:5).

Thought for Today:

When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth (Luke 11:2).

Christ Revealed:

As the Creator: It is He that hath made us (Ps. 100:3). All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:3; Eph. 3:9; Col. 1:16; Rev. 4:11).
